About to order your first doll? Here are some tips and advice.
When I saw my first TPE doll, I got an instant boner, and just started to imagine all the ways I'd fuck that hot Asian blonde 3 times a day. "Wow... a beautiful, perfect 10(+) who's always ready to go. I'm going to pass out from erection fatigue everyday with a huge smile on my face!" Yeah, well, hold up right there, Peter North. Here's some tips and advice to help you be prepared for doll reality. Dolls are a shit load of fun, but they require a lot of care and space of their own. I give my doll a kiss before bed and one in the morning, and I tell her, "I love you, poop." And, even before I get to my advice, I'll start there, and say, love your doll, and show her affection. She IS REAL. That is, she's a real object and she needs real attention. Not human needs, but doll needs. So, first and foremost, care about your doll. When you order your first one, you might be surprised how "real" she seems.
Here are a few things I've experienced early on in my doll journey.
Where to keep the box?
She comes in a big fuckin' box. Obviously. She's person-sized, after all. You might decide to throw the box away immediately. I kept both my boxes, and right now they're stacked quite conspicuously in my bedroom against a wall. You'll want to keep the box or consider a travel case. The case is sturdy and padded which is a real bonus. If you live in a big space with lots of out-of-the-way storage, you're set. If you live in a smaller place, make a plan for keeping at least the shipping box. You never know if you may need to move her somewhere down the road.
Where to clean her?
When you use your doll for sex, you'll need to clean her after. Unlike a standard male masturbator, you can't just take your doll to the sink and rinse her off. The cleaning process requires some space, and we'll write a lot about things like cleaning and repairs, going into much more detail, but when considering the space needed, you'll definitely want a work space that can get wet and won't damage your doll. So, not an unfinished wooden table with rough edges that will take water damage, for instance. I happen to have a massage table that seems to work pretty well. I used my dining table at first, but that wasn't ideal. I keep the massage table in the kitchen and that's where I do my doll cleaning. The point is, do a walk around at your place and try to plan where that might be. If your dining/kitchen table is your only option, you might consider getting a plastic cover for it to protect your table from the water and all that.
Where to store the supplies?
Your doll needs a lot of shit to maintain her youthful beauty. You'll definitely want to plan out the space where you'll keep it all, in advance. A small cabinet or IKEA mini bookshelf is about the size you'll want to think about.
Where to put her when you have non-doll friends visit?
It's awesome to pose your doll in a cute bikini and sit her on the sofa with you when you watch TV, but when friends come over who you're not ready to share your doll journey with, you'll need a space for her to chill. Might be your bed, if it's out of the way. If not, give some thought to where that would be.
Research how to move her around properly
It takes some effort to move a doll around. The larger the doll, the greater the effort. When you see your doll weighs around 65/70/80 pounds, you might remember your last visit to the gym and that you bench-pressed way more than that. A doll has the same type of mass as a petite person, but doesn't cooperate when you need to life her. A real person can wrap their arms around you to help distribute their weight, but a doll obviously can't. You'll learn about bridal carry or fireman carry from many of the doll forums, so it's a good idea to read up a little on experiences others have had. Personally, I'll do the bridal carry rfor a short move from one side of the bed to the other, but I'll use the fireman for up and down stairs and longer walks to nother rooms, etc. You'll discover what works for you.
Repairs, repairs, repairs
If you own a doll, that means you own a damaged doll. Guaranteed. It's not a matter of if you damage her, it's WHEN YOU DO damage her, you'll need to repair her. That means learning to repair TPE. That means adding a repair kit to that storage mentioned above and learing the techniques. It's a pretty important part of the commitment, specifically for TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) dolls. I don't (yet) have any experience with platinum silicone dolls. TPE is soft and realistic to touch, but there's a trade-off - it's also delicate and can be damaged by day-to-day interactions. Repairing your doll as soon as you detect damage will prolong her "life" and keep her in good condition.
That is, by no means, an extensive list of considerations when buying your first doll. These are the things that I personally encountered right up front when I handled my first doll. For that reason, you'll want to do some research beforehand, and even do some thought experiments about how you'll manage the daily maintenance and interact with your doll.
Dolls are great, and I highly recommend talking to a doll guru or an experienced owner when deciding which doll to choose if you haven't already. I would have also added to the list "Prepare your heart for the whopper she'll hit you with when you cuddle with her the first time", but I'll leave that for another post.
